Disney Ambassador Program Celebrates Rich Legacy with Incoming 2019-2020 Team

For more than 50 years, Disney Ambassadors have served as emissaries of goodwill for the Disney destinations they represent. Walt Disney, himself, created the program in 1965, naming the inaugural Disney Ambassador, Julie Reihm, who helped him by making appearances, giving speeches, escorting dignitaries and more.

Julie’s role set the standard for future decades of the Disney Ambassador program, which has grown to include a whole new world of Disney properties, including six resorts and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa.

Allow us to introduce the 11 Disney Ambassadors you’ll soon meet at each of our locations, starting on January 1:

Infographic - Global Disney Ambassador Team - 2019-2020

Their immersive training lasts through the end of this year and consists of site tours, global business overviews, media training, and a deep-dive into Disney’s most engaging experiences. They’ll represent our approximately 150,000 cast members, crew members and Imagineers across the globe.

Earlier this week, the incoming class of Disney Ambassadors visited California as part of their training. They were even treated to a little movie magic with a tour of the Studio Lot and a meeting with Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products.

In keeping with Walt’s vision, the Disney Ambassador program keeps moving forward, which is why their responsibilities cover a colorful spectrum of magic and memory-making both in the parks and beyond.

Please join us as we give a warm welcome to the 2019-2020 Disney Ambassadors!

Celebrate Mickey’s Birthday and #ShareYourEars Around the World to Support Make-A-Wish

Oh boy! It’s time to celebrate the True Original himself, Mickey Mouse! As part of the festivities to commemorate 90 years of Mickey, we’re inviting you to #ShareYourEars for the third year of this fantastically fun campaign benefiting Make-A-Wish!

From now until November 17, 2018, take a photo showing off your “Mickey Mouse ears” – or any creative “ears” – and upload it to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. For every public post with the hashtag #ShareYourEars, Disney will donate US $5 to Make-A-Wish, up to US $2 million to grant even more wishes.

Robin Roberts kicked off this year’s campaign during the “Mickey’s 90th Spectacular” last night on ABC, where the stars turned out to celebrate Mickey with song and dance, and even took their own #ShareYourEars photos!

Disney fans already know how special a wish can be, and now you can help wish kids make magical memories. Get creative! Show us your unique “ear” style. And go global! This year, we’re excited to bring you #ShareYourEars opportunities around the world.

#ShareYourEars Around the World to Support Make-A-Wish

Throughout the campaign, guests at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris can strike a pose in front of uniquely themed “ear walls” created exclusively for #ShareYourEars by Walt Disney Imagineering.

At Hong Kong Disneyland Resort find photo frames along Main Street USA!

Sailing away? You can also #ShareYourEars on Disney Cruise Line, with special photo ops that you can only find on Disney cruise ships!

You can also stop by your local Disney store* through November 17 to decorate your own pair of paper Mickey Mouse ears. Show them off in the #ShareYourEars frame and post your pictures! Find your local Disney store here.

“It is a tremendous honor to support children whose wish is to come to Disney. Wish granting exemplifies the magic our 160,000 cast members and Imagineers create for guests all over the world every day,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. “With this third #Share Your Ears campaign, we’ll get to make a difference in the lives of even more children and families.”

Since 1980, Disney has helped Make-A-Wish grant more than 130,000 wishes. This extraordinary relationship has helped wish kids around the world replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope. Currently, more than 10,000 Disney wishes are granted every year and we are so excited to help this number continue to grow!

So grab your favorite ears or surprise us with a new creation, and #ShareYourEars to celebrate Mickey’s birthday. We can’t wait to see what ears you’ll share to make wishes come true!

#ShareYourEars is part of the Disney Team of Heroes philanthropic initiative, which launched in March 2018 with a $100 million commitment to transform the children’s hospital experience and provide comfort and inspiration for kids and families.

World’s Biggest Mouse Party Coming to Shanghai Disney Resort

There’s no party like a Mouse Party, and nobody knows how to throw one like the “leader of the club that’s made for you and me!”

Recently, Mickey Mouse arrived at the Shanghai Tourism Festival in style and on parade in a brand-new, festival-exclusive Shanghai Disney Resort float called “Mouse Party.” The new themed float marks the launch of World’s Biggest Mouse Party at the resort, celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse. The float features Mickey and his friends, including Pluto, Donald, Daisy, and Chip & Dale.

“Mouse Party” will dance its way across the city of Shanghai, sharing Disney magic with local residents and tourists alike. Along the way, Mickey and the gang invite everyone to celebrate Shanghai Disney Resort’s fifth consecutive year participating in the Shanghai Tourism Festival. The resort was recognized as an “Excellent Organizer” at the festival last year and received the honor of “Best Performance” in 2016.

The float’s final day of celebration on October 6th will mark the closing of the Shanghai Tourism Festival at Shanghai Disney Resort’s Disneytown – a first for the event and the resort.

The park’s castle features four magnificent mosaics that depict the tales of Tiana, Merida, Rapunzel, and Elsa & Anna. Inside, guests have plenty to do and see, including dining at Royal Banquet Hall, greeting Disney characters, and undergoing their own transformations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Shanghai Disneyland brings a new ‘Mouse Party’ float to tourism festival

The Shanghai Tourism Festival is a highly anticipated event where all the big players showcase what’s new at their facilities. The Shanghai Disney Resort has participated in the tourism festival’s big parade for five years now and this year’s float will lead the parade. The newly designed ‘Mouse Party” will celebrate Mickey Mouse himself – bringing an authentic Disney party wherever it goes, sharing happiness and excitement with visitors from China and across the globe.

“With Shanghai attracting millions of tourists every year, we are so proud to see that Shanghai Disney Resort has rapidly become one of the country’s most popular destinations, benefiting significantly from the success of the city’s booming tourism industry,” said Philippe Gas, general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “The theme of this year’s float is ‘Celebration’, and we look forward to helping our guests celebrate many of their important milestones with us for years to come.”

The design elements of the float represent a huge party as Mickey Mouse prepares to celebrate his 90th anniversary.

A number of colorful party elements will draw the audience into the float’s immersive and festive feel, including glowing stars, Mickey-shaped balloons, a huge spinning cake with Mickey features, and an illuminated castle made of party hats in various sizes and colors incorporated into the design. To top it all off, Mickey will also appear at the center of the float surrounded by his pals Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

The entire float will also be adorned with gifts from Mickey and his pals, wrapped with supersized red ribbons, helping to bring the celebratory atmosphere to local residents and millions of TV viewers across China. Twenty of Disney’s energetic performers will also be dancing alongside the float to the hit song “It Began with a Mouse”, introducing festival attendees and parade spectators to the magic and legend of Mickey Mouse.

2018 will mark the fifth consecutive time Shanghai Disney Resort has participated in the Shanghai Tourism Festival, with each float proving to be a huge hit with all in attendance. The resort was recognized as an “Excellent Organizer” last year, following its “Best Performance” award in 2016 and “Most Popular Float of the Year” award in both 2014 and 2015.

Here are some highlights from the 2016 parade:

The float will make its debut on Saturday, September 15 at the 2018 Shanghai Tourism Festival’s Grand Opening Parade. Then, from September 16 through October 6, the float will cross the city, bringing the celebration to several areas of Shanghai and allowing more residents and tourists to get a taste of the Disney’s magic.

On October 6, the 2018 Shanghai Tourism Festival’s closing ceremony will be held at Shanghai Disney Resort’s Disneytown for the first time ever. Featuring an extension of the Disney experience, Disneytown is a unique destination for dining, shopping or catching a Broadway show.
