What:

Orlando Science Center is now hosting an exhibition featuring the finalists for the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards in Fusion: A STEAM Gallery on Level 3.  These awards are an international contest to showcase the not-so-majestic side of nature with the goal of promoting conservation.

When:

Friday, November 2, 2018 through Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

Cost:

Comedy Wildlife Photography exhibit is included with admission to Orlando Science Center, which is free for members, $20.95 for adults, $18.95 for seniors and students, and $14.95 for youth (ages 3 – 11).

More Details:

“There is no competition like this one, celebrating the wildly hilarious moments that animals demonstrate,” said Tom Sullam, Chair of the Judges for Comedy Wildlife. “More importantly, this competition is about conservation. Wildlife is under threat and this competition hopes to raise awareness thorough humor rather than shock.”

Orlando Science Center is the U.S. premiere location for this exhibition. Howl with laughter at 41 high resolution photos that capture animal expressions and comical coincidences. Winners for the competition will be announced at an awards ceremony in England on November 15, and be noted in the gallery soon afterwards. Winners will be named in the following categories:

  • Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year
  • “In the Air” Photographer of the Year
  • “On the Land” Photographer of the Year
  • “In the Water” Photographer of the Year
  • “Junior” Photographer of the Year

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards support The Born Free Foundation, an organization that works to ensure all animals are treated with compassion and respect.

What:

Orlando Science center is offering full-day school break camps for elementary students when Orange County Public Schools or Seminole County Public Schools are out of session. From putting on your scuba gear and diving underwater in Oceans Explorers to discovering the amazing animals and environments that are the inspiration for Pokémon in Pokémon Evolve, your child will explore STEM learning in the most exciting ways!

To register for break camps, please go to osc.org/education/break-camps. Walk-in registration will be open if space is still available.

Discover the living and human-made extensions that help us thrive, from the microbial to the mechanical. Orlando Science Center’s new fall 2018 traveling exhibits go hand in hand to take you on a journey, exploring anatomy and technology that makes the human body so unique and mighty!

Zoo In You introduces guests to the trillions of microbes living inside our bodies while Human Plus explores the low-tech and high-tech tools that extend the abilities of the human body.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Orlando Science Center is closed on Wednesdays, with the exception of the first Wednesday of each month and when Orange County or Seminole County public schools are on break.

Cost:

Science Center hosts Homeschool Open House

Science Center hosts Homeschool Open House – Come learn about the Orlando Science Center’s specially-designed education program for homeschool students in grades K-8 on August 27th, 2018 from 10am to 2pm.



Science Center hosts Homeschool Open HouseScience Center is hosting a Homeschool Open House to learn about their monthly events which provide engaging STEM-based group activities, admission to exhibits and more.

Visit the newly renovated STEM Discovery Center and learn how your homeschooled child can participate in hands-on lab experiements, exhibit tours and more.

Families can preview the Discovery Labs, meet some of OSC’s outstanding educators and register for programs. Afterward, explore the Science Center’s exhibits and see one of our educational giant-screen films!

Open house attendees will receive free general admission and free parking in the Orlando Science Center parking garage.
