It feels like summer 2019 will be here in a blink and I’m so excited because that means Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites will welcome its first guests. What can you expect at our newest hotel? A fun surf theme, exclusive Universal Orlando theme park benefits and our most affordable price point ever. I seriously can’t wait!

Because I grew up near Florida’s premier beaches, I made sure that the details at Surfside Inn and Suites make you feel like you’re right in the ocean surf. As a Senior Manager for the Universal Creative team, I have worked on exciting projects that made magic and thrills come to life inside our theme parks. Now I’m bringing that same level of detail and authenticity our guests see in the parks to the design at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort.

Here’s a first look at the surf-inspired guest rooms at our newest hotel!

Universal's Endless Summer Resort - Surfside Inn and Suites Guest Room

As soon as you step into your room you’ll see the beach vibe everywhere. The vibrant design features remind me of being inside the barrel of a wave, surrounded by cool blue waters. Details like a full-sized surfboard, colorful artwork, bright pinstriped rug runners, and tie-dye curtains will make the perfect retreat for families.

Universal's Endless Summer Resort - Surfside Inn and Suites Guest Room

Something I’ve really loved designing are the 2 Bedroom Suites. Forget connecting rooms because here the whole family can stay in one suite. These rooms sleep up to six people with a separate bedroom so adults can have some privacy. There’s also a beachy picnic table and kitchenette area, which is the perfect space for the whole family to hang out and eat a yummy pizza. Something else I love about the suites are the spacious bathrooms – with two sinks and a separate shower area, the entire family can get ready quickly and hit the parks in time for Early Park Admission.

Speaking of the theme parks, when you stay at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort you’ll receive all of the exclusive benefits that come with staying at a Universal Orlando hotel: Early Park Admission, free transportation to CityWalk and the parks, and resort-wide charging privileges with your room key. All of these theme park benefits plus the quality of a Universal Orlando hotel at this price point? You won’t find a deal like this anywhere else in Orlando!

Universal's Endless Summer Resort - Surfside Inn and Suites Guest Room

I grew up living the surf lifestyle and I can’t wait to share that with you when you stay at Surfside Inn and Suites. Make sure you book your room now! Rates for a seven night stay start at just $73 per night for a standard room, and $111 for a 2 Bedroom Suite.

And stay tuned to the blog for more details about Surfside Inn and Suites and its sister property, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites.

Everyone enjoys Universal Orlando Resort’s three amazing theme parks during the day. But did you know how much entertainment there is to do—right at your on-site hotel—when you return from a day of big fun?

Well, I was fortunate enough to experience a wide array of nighttime entertainment that allowed me to continue the fun into the wee hours of the morning!

Bar 17 Bistro at Universal’s Aventura Hotel

GIF

Where else can you enjoy a beautiful sunset, 17 floors up, with your favorite friends and family? Only at Universal’s Aventura Hotel! This rooftop bar features delicious signature drinks and scrumptious small plates that will be the perfect complement to your breathtaking views of not only Universal Orlando Resort’s three amazing theme parks, but the Orlando skyline. After a long day in the parks, this is the absolute perfect place to kick back, relax, and enjoy the view.

Musica della Notte at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

GIF

If you’re staying at Lowe’s Portofino Bay Hotel—or even just venture over to take in the re-creation of the famed seaside village of Portofino, Italy—you simply cannot miss Musica della Notte. What could be more romantic than looking across the lagoon with that special someone, while you’re serenaded by the live classically trained opera singers? This performance takes place every night at sunset in the Harbor Piazza, weather permitting.

Strong Water Tavern at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

GIF

If you want to experience more than your average hotel lobby bar, you’ve got to hit Strong Water Tavern. This crown jewel is essential for rum lovers, with its selection of more than 100 different types of rum. This also makes it perfect for anyone looking to try something new and delicious. Don’t worry if you need some help on where to start. You can be hooked up with your very own personal “Rum Captain,” who will assist you in creating the perfect rum flight for your palette! Pair your new favorite drinks with a few Caribbean-style tapas, and you’ll agree that Strong Water Tavern is an experience that can’t be missed.

Caribbean Carnaval at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

GIF

Friday night is party night, and there’s no party like Caribbean Carnaval at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort! You’ll get to experience the rich sounds and delightful tastes of the Caribbean islands’ best cuisine, signature drinks (don’t miss the Rum Punch!) and live music. It’s an all-you-can-eat buffet with plenty of song, dance, beautiful costumes, and my favorite…the limbo!

Velvet Sessions at Hard Rock Hotel

GIF

When you’re in the mood to ROCK, there’s only one place to go and that’s the Hard Rock Hotel for the award-winning Velvet Sessions. Nearly every month, the hotel lobby is transformed into the party you’ve been looking for, featuring live music from some of the most legendary acts in rock n’ roll history. Before the show, enjoy rockin’ drinks and fabulous finger foods while jamming with other music lovers—it’s all included with your Velvet Sessions ticket. You can even upgrade to a VIP experience and really party like a rock star at Orlando’s biggest rock ‘n roll cocktail party.

Galaxy Bowl at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort

GIF

We all love Cabana Bay’s retro theme. But did you know that it extends beyond the classic cars and groovy decor? If you want to re-live your bowling league days (like me), then Galaxy Bowl is the place for you! Gather up everyone in your party and head over to this 50s-themed bowling alley that will transport you back in time for an unforgettable bowling experience. Chow down on all of the tasty foods from the full menu and enjoy your favorite drinks, served however you’d like—even in a bowling pin! Galaxy Bowl can be fun for the whole family, a friend’s night out, or just you and that special someone. Grab your shoes, fill your belly, and get ready to knock ‘em down!

Wantilan Luau at Loews Royal Pacific Resort

GIF

And if you’re looking for a trip to the other side of the globe, I’ve got the ticket for you—the Wantilan Luau. Turn up the excitement on your Saturday night with hula and fire dancers while you enjoy a tropical all-you-can-eat buffet, complete with pit-roasted pig. Throw in the live music and casual outdoor environment, and you’ll be instantly transported straight to the South Pacific for a true island party.

So yeah, there’s so much to do at the theme parks. But stay with Universal and you’re steps away from all kinds of nighttime entertainment options.

Whether I spend the day rocking out on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit or relaxing on Waturi Beach, my favorite way to cool off at the end of the day is with a dive-in movie at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel. Every night around sunset, weather permitting, all six Universal Orlando hotels screen your favorite family-friendly movies at the pools, which means everyone can get in on the fun.

While you’re relaxing by the pool and watching your favorite flick, make sure to check out some of my favorite things about each of our hotel pools!

Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

Pool at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

Bring the whole family along for a dive-in movie at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort’s pool. It’s the largest pool at Universal Orlando Resort, so there’s plenty of space and activities for everyone to enjoy before, during and after the movie. Kids will love splashing in the pool’s shallow zero entry area or zipping down the water slide while parents kick back with a refreshing Dhrum Club Punch. Make a cool family memory when you bring everyone together around the poolside fire pit to roast s’mores.

Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Lazy River at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort

With two pools to choose from, Cabana Bay Beach Resort offers double the fun for dive-in movie goers. While the movie is on, kids can play on the water slide beneath the glow of the neon lights at the Cabana Courtyard Pool or float down the twists and turns at the Lazy River Courtyard Pool while taking in mesmerizing nighttime views of the Krakatau Volcano at Universal’s Volcano Bay. Double the fun means you’ll need to refuel, so be sure to visit Atomic Tonic or The Hideaway Bar & Grill for delicious poolside food and drinks.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort

Pool at Loews Royal Pacific Resort

At Loews Royal Pacific Resort, you’ll be transported to the South Pacific during the Golden Age of Travel when explorers island-hopped in search of the next great adventure. Kids can take breaks from watching the movie to splash and play on the Royal Bali Sea interactive water feature. Top off the night with ice cream from Bula Bar & Grille for an extra cherry on top.

Hard Rock Hotel

Pool at Hard Rock Hotel Orlando

Hard Rock Hotel’s pool takes the dive-in movie experience to another level with underwater speakers, so you can take a dip in the pool without missing a moment of the action. Plus, don’t forget to grab a cone of Emack & Bolio’s award-winning ice cream to snack on poolside. Choose from a variety of creative flavors like Twisted Dee-Light, Deep Purple Chip and S’mOreo.

Universal’s Aventura Hotel

Universal's Aventura Hotel - Pool

No dive-in movie is complete without snacks and our newest, most modern hotel, Universal’s Aventura Hotel, is the perfect place to try some tasty treats. End your day on a sweet note with an indulgent gelato panini or a delightful cup of sorbet from the hotel’s modern food hall, Urban Pantry. Enjoy the movie from the comfort of your lounge chair or take a break to wind down by the outdoor fire pit with a signature cocktail or glass of wine from the breezy pool bar, Bar Sol.

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Pool at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

At Loews Portofino Bay Hotel’s Beach Pool, you’ll feel like you traveled all the way to Italy to enjoy a dive-in movie. Kids will have a blast sliding down the Roman aqueduct style water slide while singing along to their favorite movie tunes. Parents can relax in one of the poolside cabanas with cocktails and food from Splendido Bar & Grill for the perfect ending to a fun-filled day at Universal Orlando.

Are you ready to enjoy dive-in movies at a Universal Orlando hotel? Book your stay and experience all the incredible benefits that come with staying at one of our on-site hotels during your epic Universal Orlando Resort vacation!

How to Get from Your Hotel to the Parks

How to Get from Your Hotel to the Parks

Share this post:

One of the amazing benefits of staying at one of our resort hotels is leaving your travel worries behind and hopping on a water taxi, shuttle bus, or taking a short walk over to one of our three spectacular theme parks.

Water Taxi

Complimentary Water Taxi at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

My favorite ride to start the day at Universal Orlando Resort is the water taxi. Water taxis are available exclusively at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Orlando, Loews Royal Pacific Resort and Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, with an average travel time of less than 10 minutes and beautiful views to enjoy along the way. The water taxi takes you straight from the hotel to Universal CityWalk. From there, you can choose to head to Universal’s Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Florida. Either park you choose is equally awesome.

Shuttle Bus

Complimentary Shuttles from Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Another option for transportation to our parks is the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus is offered at all of our hotels including Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Universal’s Aventura Hotel. If you’re staying at Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific Resort or Sapphire Falls Resort, starting an hour before Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure open, the shuttle busses run every 30 minutes to CityWalk until 2AM. The shuttle busses to Volcano Bay run an hour before and after the park opens and closes. If you’re staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort or Aventura Hotel, the shuttle busses run every 15 minutes and will take you directly to CityWalk where you can easily walk to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Walking Path

The last method of transportation is also the oldest mode of transportation… by foot! All of our hotels offer a connecting walking path that takes you from one hotel to another or to CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure. One of the really cool benefits about staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Aventura Hotel and Sapphire Falls Resort is that these hotels offer a dedicated walking path straight to Volcano Bay. This path is just a short walk over to the thrills of the slides and the relaxation of Waturi Beach under the Krakatau volcano.

Need some help deciding which mode of transportation is best for you? Here’s a handy guide with details on all three options.

Are you ready for a new adventure? We’re ready to make it happen! Minutes ago, I had the most amazing experience of my career as I opened the front doors of Universal’s Aventura Hotel to our first guests.

The hotel business is 24/7/365—once our doors open, they never close. And to be honest, it’s a moment I could have never imagined when I started working as a banquet houseman at a hotel in the UK at age 14.

From then until now, I’ve always thought of the hotel experience as a journey, and I think you’re going to love it here. From our sleek lobby to the pool deck to the guest rooms, bars and restaurants, everything has been designed to appeal to today’s traveler.

What makes the journey through Aventura Hotel so special? For me, it’s many factors, but perhaps the three that stand out the most are the views, the food and drinks, and my team.

The Views

Universal's Aventura Hotel - Standard Queen Guest Room

Whether you’re in a guest room or at Bar 17 Bistro, this hotel offers some of the most spectacular views of any hotel I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen and worked in my fair share of hotels around the world). Look one way and you’ll see Universal’s Volcano Bay (be sure to use our dedicated walkway that takes you straight to Volcano Bay) and our sister hotel, Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. I especially love the view at night of Volcano Bay from Bar 17 Bistro.

Look another direction and you’ll see another of our sister hotels, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. Look beyond and you have an awesome view of Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal CityWalk. And you don’t have to be on the roof to see these views—the floor-to-ceiling windows in many of our guest rooms showcase these views brilliantly.

The Food and Drinks

Universal's Aventura Hotel - Urban Pantry Sushi

As a former executive chef, I’m a foodie at heart. So, we’ve meticulously crafted our menus and cocktails to bring you something out of the ordinary – great food in a casual, welcoming setting that puts everyone at ease.

What are the must have’s? The bao buns and the Wagyu beef sliders at Bar 17 Bistro. A specialty cocktail at any of our three bars – barVentura in the lobby, BarSol at the pool or Bar 17 Bistro on the rooftop.

But perhaps my favorite aspect of this entire project is our food hall in the lobby, Urban Pantry. Visit one of our four stations for breakfast, lunch or dinner and see how we’ve mixed fresh and flavorful with affordable casual to create something new for Orlando’s theme park food scene. Here, you’ll enjoy diverse flavors, fresh ingredients and globally-inspired dishes such as teriyaki stir fry and smoked salmon pizza.

The Team

Universal's Aventura Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort

Every minute of every day, those of us who work in hospitality are focused on one thing—our guests. Each guest has a story, and our job is to be a part of your story in a meaningful and memorable way. Whether you’re visiting from a few miles away or half a world away, our team is here to take care of you and help you escape the “everyday.” Guests at Aventura Hotel will see our team’s undeniable passion as they experience this new hotel and all the endless opportunities for fun at Universal Orlando Resort.

So, stop by and see what has all of us so excited as we begin this new adventure, along with you.

Best of all, guests can enjoy all that Aventura Hotel has to offer at a Prime Value price point. If you haven’t already booked your stay, now is the time. Rates at Aventura Hotel start at just $116 per night for a four-night stay. And for a limited time, guests that book a stay at Universal’s Aventura Hotel will receive a $50 hotel dining credit when staying for four nights or longer.

Cheers!

6 Super Fun Things to Do at Universal Orlando Resort Other than Rides

6 Super Fun Things to Do at Universal Orlando Resort Other than Rides

Share this post:

Feeling a bit left out when planning a trip to Universal Orlando just because you are all like, “Definitely NOT getting on that ride!” While the big shiny roller coasters and blockbuster-inspired action rides are what bring many people to the parks, there’s so much more to Universal Orlando Resort.

Here are a few of our favorites things to do outside of the rides.

1. Channel Your Inner Wizard at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Butterbeer with Hannah from Getting Stamped

You could easily spend your entire trip to Universal Orlando exploring the lands of Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Immerse yourself and get lost in the wonder of all things Harry Potter. While others in your group strap into one of the world’s thrill rides, like the multi-dimensional Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts in Diagon Alley or Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in Hogsmeade, you can head into Ollivanders wand shop. The shop is lined from floor to ceiling with wands of all shapes and sizes, and you can even experience how a wand chooses a wizard first-hand.

With wand in hand, make your way to one of the many purveyors of Butterbeer that can be found throughout both areas. Along the way, keep an eye out for bronze medallions on the ground where you can use your interactive wand. Your interactive wand can cast numerous spells throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The fun doesn’t stop there – both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade are packed with details big and small that will keep witches, wizards and Muggles entertained for hours.

2. A Ride to Consider Trying: The Hogwarts Express

If you can handle a little bit of motion simulation, consider hopping on-board this iconic train. The Hogwarts Express takes you on immersive journeys with familiar characters and creatures as you travel between King’s Cross Station in Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade Station in Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

3. Satisfy Your Inner Foodie at Universal CityWalk

Citywalk - Cowfish

Take your taste buds for a ride at one of the top-notch restaurants at Universal CityWalk. With the choice of tasty food spots almost as abundant as rides inside the parks, it can be tough to choose just one restaurant.

It’s hard to go wrong with lunch or dinner at The Cowfish, which serves up amazing burgers and top-shelf sushi all under the same roof. NBC Sports Grill & Brew will keep you up-to-date with your favorite teams with a side of awesome pub fare. If you’re craving something south of the border head to the colorfully-painted Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food for some pretty legit tacos and out of this world table-side guacamole!

At the end of the day, grab a seat next to Jimmy Buffet’s seaplane at the Lone Palm Airport and catch the sunset with a tropical drink in hand. Sink your toes in the real sand beach and enjoy the tiki bar inspired menu – it’s the perfect place to unwind.

4. Sit Back and Catch a Show

Horror Make Up Show

Between the theme parks and Universal CityWalk, there are tons of live shows to check out. Check out the fun music and humor of Blue Man Group at CityWalk or one-of-a-kind attractions like the Horror Make-Up Show. There is sure to be a show that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

But one of the most thrilling things you can do outside of the rides at Universal Orlando is be a participant in the Fear Factor Live show. Compete against other park guests in crazy physical challenges. Or jump on stage and see if you have what it takes to tackle your fears. There’s always a chance for bugs to be involved, but fun is always guaranteed.

More must-see shows at Universal Orlando:

Universal Studios Florida

Universal’s Islands of Adventure

5. Get Into Character

The Secret Life of Pets

The rides are great for some, but it’s the characters that really bring the parks to life. Walking around the park you might bump into one of the Minions or even a Marvel Super Hero. Your little non-riders will love seeing characters from Dr. Seuss, Barney and Scooby-Doo

Get even closer to your favorite characters by sitting down for breakfast or dinner with them. Book a table for you and some of Universal’s most beloved characters. If you’re staying on-site, you can have breakfast with the Minions – but you just might not want to order banana pancakes!

More ways to have a character encounter:

Universal Studios Florida

Universal’s Islands of Adventure

6. Chillax at an On-Site Hotel

Onsite Hotel Pool

If a comfy massage table is more your style, then hang back at your hotel for a relaxing morning while the riders in your group take on the park. Pamper yourself with a spa treatment at Mandara Spa at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel or head down to the hotel pool with a good book in hand. Everyone will have a better time if they are doing what makes them happy, just set a time to come together again for some family or group fun.

Make a plan to meet your riders back at the hotel for lunch or dinner at one of the many great dining options. Each on-site hotel at Universal Orlando is home to a handful of restaurants that fit the style and theme of the hotel, like the Caribbean-inspired Strong Water Tavern and Amatista Restaurant at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. It’s a great spot to meet up before heading back into the parks, which are just a short water taxi or shuttle ride away!

Don’t let the big rides scare you away from making the trip down to Universal Orlando this year. Start planning now and get #ReadyforUniversal.
