Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party exclusive Disney photopass magic moments

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party exclusive Disney photopass magic moments

The holidays at Walt Disney World are known for the extra dusting of magical theming that festoon the parks and resorts. It’s very photographic and Disney’s Photopass photographers are always there to assist you with a selfie or family portrait. At this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party you’ll be able to find a few extra tidings of joy in exclusive merry photo opportunities.

This year you’ll encounter Toy Soldiers from Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, Tinker Bell, Olaf, gingerbread man, and more.

There are also ‘magic shot’ opportunities featuring holly-jolly props like Tinker Bell in the lamp located near Beast’s castle in Fantasyland.

We also love the ‘magic shot’ animated videos, which are perfect for adding to your facebook page or other social media accounts. Don’t forget to visit old saint Nick for a special animated magic shot.

For Annual Passholders its included with your pass, but day visitors can also purchase Memory Maker pass. If you’re just attending the party, purchase Memory Maker One Day and apply the entitlement for the day you attend the party. You’ll also need the My Disney Experience app to see and download your photopass moments.

Hint: Although MVMCP, and all the fun, starts at 7pm, remember your ticket gets you in at 4pm.

We hope you find plenty of holiday joy at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ – Can They Do That?

If you’ve seen the trailers for “Ralph Breaks the Internet” and laughed your way through sneak peeks at the film’s headline-grabbing Disney Princess sequence, you may have found yourself asking, “Can they do that?”

In part five of my six-part conversation with “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer Clark Spencer (“Lilo & Stich,” “Bolt,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Zootopia”), the Oscar winner discusses the filmmakers’ approach to pushing the humor envelope while paying all due respect to Disney royalty.

Look for the final clip from our conversation here on the Disney Parks Blog on Nov. 21, when “Ralph Breaks the Internet” opens in theaters.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland pick up new sponsor for kitchen and laundry appliances – Whirlpool

Your next stay at a Walt Disney World or Disneyland resort hotel might include an up close encounter with a Whirlpool brand kitchen or laundry appliance. The two companies announced a partnership today that will place Whirlpool products such as refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, cooktops, microwave ovens, clothes washers and clothes dryers in select Disney Vacation Club Villas at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

“As a leader in their industry, Whirlpool is a household name that has been helping consumers care for their families for over a century,” said Carlos Castro, vice president of Disney Corporate Alliances. “Introducing Whirlpool’s thoughtfully designed appliances into our Disney Vacation Club properties will give guests the perfect opportunity to experience Whirlpool products first-hand.”

Whirlpool appliances will also be used to outfit the Culinary Stage for cooking demonstrations at Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World and Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival at Disneyland.

In addition, Whirlpool will align with Disney Digital Network to create exciting custom food and cooking based content throughout Disney’s family of digital networks.

“As one of the world’s most beloved brands, Disney offers the perfect platform for our leading brands to better connect with consumers across the country,” said Rob Sundy, senior director of brands for Whirlpool Corporation, North American Region. “We look forward to bringing our purposeful innovation to these iconic Disney destinations.”

Have you ever stayed in a Disney resort or villa with a kitchen to do your own cooking and save a few dollars on food?

‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ – A Surprising, and Slightly Scary, Source of Inspiration

Here’s a scary thought on this Halloween. Did you know that all Internet communications in North America run through a single building … and that they let filmmakers in that place?!

In part three of my six-part conversation with “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer Clark Spencer (“Lilo & Stich,” “Bolt,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Zootopia”), the Oscar winner recalls his team’s research trip to a Los Angeles office tower that helped shape the filmmakers’ vision for the physical world of the Internet.

Disney Vacation Club Moms Panel Moments: Comforts of Home with Family

Our Disney Parks Moms Panelist and Disney Vacation Club Member Tania is back to talk about how Disney Vacation Club properties provide many of the comforts of “home” while being close to the theme park magic. Tania especially loves the full kitchens in most Disney Vacation Club villa accommodations, allowing time for her multi- generational family to gather and cook and play games after a full day at the parks. She cherishes the family time and memories made in the midst of the magic.

‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ – A Filmmaker’s Surprising Path

In what sounds like the plot of a Disney film, a Harvard-educated banker quits his steady-but-unfulfilling job on Wall Street and heads to Hollywood to pursue his dream of being a filmmaker. This is the very true story of “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer Clark Spencer, an Oscar winner whose credits also include “Lilo & Stich,” “Bolt,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Zootopia.”

In part two of my six-part conversation with this fascinating filmmaker, Clark takes us back to that critical crossroad in his life and shares advice for anyone who may have the desire – but not the courage – to choose a different path.

Disney World to add new Deluxe Resort along shores of Bay Lake

As has long been rumored, a new resort has been announced for Walt Disney World. This will be a mixed-use Disney resort (meaning both regular hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas) that rests along the picturesque shoreline of Bay Lake. Physically located between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge complex and the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the new nature-inspired resort will have more than 900 hotel rooms and villas.

Disney hotel designers want this new deluxe resort to compliment its natural surroundings.

“Walt Disney World is in the midst of our most significant expansion in the last two decades and the combined 1,700 new hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club villas we are building at four different resorts will create thousands of new construction and permanent jobs and will drive economic opportunity and incremental revenue for Central Florida,” said George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort. “We continue to add new attractions, new lands — and these beautiful accommodations will be right in the heart of all that magic.”

The soon-to-be named resort is slated to be Disney’s 16th Disney Vacation Club property and it will continue to build on the value and flexibility of a Disney Vacation Club membership.

“This resort experience will be a celebration of Walt Disney’s lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible,” said Terri Schultz, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. “It will give our members and guests yet another opportunity to stay in close proximity to all the newest attractions and experiences in our theme parks, and with the flexibility, value and world-class service families expect from Disney.”

The art of selling timeshares is a strange one, Walt Disney World hasn’t finished building its next Disney Vacation Club Resort – The Riviera Resort (which will be on the new Disney Skyliner gondola line) – and it’s already announced the next resort. We’re old enough to remember the days when Bay Lake Tower was already in vertical construction up to at least the 8th floor before Disney officially announced they were building a new DVC resort.

Disney has already announced closures for some Fort Wilderness facilities that will be impacted by the construction (Mickey’s Backyard BBQ and some outbuildings). It’s believed that the Pioneer Hall complex will also receive some updates and TLC as part of this project.

What are your thoughts on the look in the concept art? It’s received some criticism online for looking a bit too cookie cutter, but I feel it will fit in nicely with the forested feel of that part of Walt Disney World. Reminds me a bit of a Colorado Ski Lodge. The devil is in the details, so we shall see.

Construction is expected to take around four years. Other hotel projects currently under construction are the Riviera Resort, which will be Disney’s 15th DVC property and a new tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort. Announced, but still awaiting groundbreaking is a Star Wars-themed hotel that will take guests into space for a highly immersive experience.

‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ – a Producer’s Disney Parks Roots

Having been a Disney fan long before I was a cast member, visiting with a Disney filmmaker makes me feel like I’m walking among giants. Doing so with a filmmaker I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing for nearly two decades makes me feel like I’m catching up with an old friend.

That was the case during a recent visit to Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, where I sat down with “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer Clark Spencer, an Oscar® winner I first met during the production of “Lilo & Stich” at the former Disney Feature Animation Florida studio at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the years since, my interviews with Clark have chronicled his work on such films as “Bolt,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Zootopia” – each time deepening my appreciation for this fascinating filmmaker.

Our latest visit was our first to take place on camera, allowing me to share his insights like never before. We discussed everything from his unconventional career path to the creative challenges his team tackled in moving Ralph and Vanellope out of Litwak’s video arcade and into the uncharted world of the Internet.

In this first clip, Clark recalls his years of filmmaking in Florida and explains how lunch breaks in a Walt Disney World Theme Park underscored the purpose of the studio’s work.
