Rosita Flying into The Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland Park

You may have heard about The Tropical Hideaway opening later this year in Disneyland park. This new Adventureland outpost will serve as an exotic marketplace for discovering unique food and beverages. In addition to experiencing delicious tastes from all corners of the world, you’ll also encounter colorful wildlife.

After years of performing with the bird mobile chorus of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Rosita is spreading her wings and taking flight towards a solo career. You’ll find her on the river’s edge at the loading dock waiting for her boat to arrive.

Rosita is a friendly cockatoo that looks forward to meeting travelers from around the globe who are also visiting The Tropical Hideaway. Pull up a nearby seat and say hello! But beware… she has a repertoire of jokes and one-liners that would make any Jungle Cruise Skipper proud!

We look forward to sharing more about The Tropical Hideaway on the Disney Parks Blog. Stay tuned!

One of Jack’s favorite holiday traditions is leaving a special treat for the ghosts who dance around the Haunted Mansion’s Grand Hall. The annual centerpiece for this “waltz of the weird” is always a huge, creepy gingerbread creation. Jack delivers new and thrilling surprises every year. Tennessee Couple Spends Magical Day Visiting All Six Disney Theme Parks in the U.S.

On Wednesday, a couple from Tennessee embarked on the Disney adventure of a lifetime. Their mission: Visit every Disney theme park in the United States in less than 24 hours.

Heather and Clark Ensminger arrived in Orlando Tuesday night and spent the evening at Disney Springs relaxing before their grand endeavor. Their carefully planned agenda included at least one attraction and a bite to eat at each park, so they started their magical day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as the sun rose over Toy Story Land. From there, they hopped to Epcot for a trip back through history on Spaceship Earth, then skipped over to Magic Kingdom Park to meet Mickey Mouse. Their visit to Walt Disney World Resort concluded with lunch and some fun at Disney’s Animal Kingdom before racing off to the airport.

After a cross-country flight to Los Angeles, the Ensmingers slid into Disney California Adventure park before it closed to experience Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! They then jaunted across the Esplanade to conclude their own version of a Disney marathon at Disneyland park.

The couple knew this day could bring some logistical challenges, but they went into it with a lot of experience. The parents of four children all under 10 are Disney park veterans; they made the 10-hour drive from eastern Tennessee to Walt Disney World six different times over a 12-month span from 2017-2018. “In that year, we calculated we spent over a month at Walt Disney World!” Clark said with a laugh. (The kids stayed home with family on this trip.)

While stepping foot inside every Disney park on the continent was a joy unto itself, the Ensmingers said this trip meant a great deal to them in a very personal way. Heather’s father passed away unexpectedly last October, just days before the family was due to visit Walt Disney World together. “As the anniversary of his passing got a little closer, I was sort of having a hard time,” Heather said. “Unbeknownst to me, my husband started planning this special trip to surprise me.” The surprise was accidentally spoiled about a month ago by a random e-mail, but Heather said “it turned out OK” because she had fun helping make the final arrangements.

So what is it about Disney parks that enticed this husband-and-wife duo to attempt a trip like this? “It’s the magic,” Heather said. “We’ve experienced tons of pixie dust over the years – the cast members always go out of their way to make things special.”

And that was true yet again over the course of this 24-hour sprint, Clark added: “It’s just been a dream come true.”

A Walk in the Park: Autumn at Disneyland Resort

I love when summer transitions to autumn at the Disneyland Resort. It’s a beautiful time of year.

I often set out to refresh our collection of Sleeping Beauty Castle photography as the seasons change. One morning I found myself on the Mark Twain Riverboat’s top-deck at sunrise and was transfixed as the sky morphed from deep blue to orange. The Matterhorn mountain became bathed in a golden glow and the sun’s rays kissed the spires of Sleeping Beauty Castle, which created a lovely rim-light effect.

Autumn at Disneyland Resort

With the arrival of autumn comes Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. I think our visitors are attracted to big seasonal changes like the Mickey Mouse Jack-o-lantern on Main Street, U.S.A., but I love all of the little details, like the horticulture treatments in Town Square at Disneyland park and throughout Downtown Disney District—orange flowers and real pumpkins abound.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

I can’t wait for Sleeping Beauty Castle to be covered in snow come November, but those spires really are picturesque year-round.

Autumn at Disneyland Resort

Amidst all of the changes, the Southern California days are still warm enough to enjoy short-sleeve shirts and a scoop (or three) of ice cream.

Now is the perfect time to pack-up the family for a little fun at this magical place. We want to see ya’ real soon!

Ten Ways to Kick Up Your Heels at the Disneyland Resort

With more than 100 attractions and entertainment offerings, there is a lot to see and do at the Disneyland Resort. Sometimes, the best way to experience the resort is at a leisurely pace, making time to rest and relax. It’s vacation after all!

Here are ten ways to kick back and enjoy your time at the Happiest Place on Earth:

1. Disneyland Railroad – Take a relaxing tour aboard the Disneyland Railroad and travel to your next destination at Disneyland park on an authentic steam-powered train. The attraction is just over a mile long and offers a nearly 20-minute scenic break if you take it round trip.

2. Star Wars Launch Bay – Explore immersive exhibits, encounter Kylo Ren and get off of your feet for 10 minutes in the Launch Bay Theater in Tomorrowland, offering a short film that celebrates the entire Star Wars saga running continuously throughout the day.

3. People Watching – Relax on benches throughout the theme parks and enjoy the sweet sounds and unique views of the resort. The hustle and bustle of Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland park, including the classic turn-of-the century vehicles, or Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure park, brimming with life and live entertainment, are perfect spots.

4. Mark Twain Riverboat – Take a seat aboard the 19th-century-inspired riverboat for a half-mile journey into the worlds of old America. The charming adventure offers all sorts of sights and sounds along the river’s edge.

5. Disney Animation Building – No reservations are required for the drawing classes that occur every 30 minutes at the Animation Academy in Hollywood Land. Plus, the Animation Courtyard, Sorcerer’s Workshop and “Turtle Talk with Crush” are great experiences showcasing beloved Disney films in the same building.

6. Bengal Barbecue – Take advantage of the recently added air-conditioned seats at Bengal Barbeque in Adventureland and try the seasonal favorite, Musubi Special. Additional seating in the area will be available soon when Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and The Tropical Hideaway open.

7. Tomorrowland Theater and Sunset Showcase Theater – Head to the Tomorrowland Theater or Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land for an entertainment treat. Enjoy a sneak peek of Disney’s dazzling new adventure “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” now playing in the Sunset Showcase Theater!

8. Starbucks – If you’re looking to rest with an additional pick-me-up, there are several Starbucks locations with plenty of seating inside or nearby to enjoy a cup of joe.

9. Main Street Opera House – There is plenty of seating throughout the spectacular Opera House on Main Street, U.S.A. while looking at rare Disney memorabilia. Then watch Abraham Lincoln come to life!

10. Live Performances – Enjoy world-class entertainment while taking a break at the same time. “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” in Hollywood Land and “Mickey and the Magical Map” in Fantasyland are offered several times a day.

Disneyland Resort Celebrates 2019-2020 Disney Ambassadors

As I shared yesterday, Disneyland Resort celebrated its newly announced 2019-2020 Disney Ambassadors, Justin Rapp and Rafa Barron, with a cavalcade in Disneyland park. After the cavalcade, I had a chance to speak with them to get their reactions about being named Disney Ambassadors.

“When I heard my name called as a Disney Ambassador, I didn’t believe it,” said Justin, who started as a Jungle Cruise skipper in 2012 before his most recent role in entertainment. “I get to represent our 30,000 cast members, and I’m really excited about making monthly visits to Children’s Hospital of Orange County with our Disney characters. That will be really special.”

Rafa, who hired into Tomorrowland attractions two and a half years ago, added, “It’s an honor to represent our cast members. The Disney Ambassador program is a legacy we’ve been carrying on since Walt Disney started it in 1965.”

See the announcement and cavalcade in this video!

Behind-the-Scenes: Decorating the Disneyland Resort for Halloween Time

If you’ve had a chance to visit the Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time, it’s not hard to miss the giant Mickey Mouse jack-o’-lantern on Main Street, U.S.A in Disneyland park or the eerie Headless Horseman on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure park.

However, what you may not have noticed at first glance is the fine detailed décor prepared by our resort enhancement team. While working the graveyard shift, these talented tricksters transform all of the window displays along both streets into spooky Halloween-themed scenes. The team is also responsible for enhancing many of the restaurants and shops at the Disneyland Resort with touches of the seasonal spirit.

Check out the video below to get a glimpse at how we bring Halloween magic to life!
