First Look: Disney Skyliner Gondola at Walt Disney World Resort

Earlier this week, we shared the exciting update that our new Disney Skyliner gondola system will be operating at the Walt Disney World Resort in fall of 2019. Today, we’ve got more to share – a first look at one of the actual gondolas!

Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled the gondola to Disney fans during D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse event. And as you can see, Disney Skyliner will be fun and offer a new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort with amazing views only available from the sky.

Once operating, the gondola system will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as well as the proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property, Disney’s Riviera Resort.

And select gondolas will have iconic Disney characters incorporated into their exterior design to give the appearance that a Disney pal is riding along with guests, such as characters from the ‘Fab Five,’ figures from Disney attractions, fan favorites from movies, and more.

#DisneyKids: Galactic Whirls Delight Young Guests at Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land is a huge draw for everyone in the family. But Alien Swirling Saucers is especially appealing to the preschool set. There’s so much stimulation — bright colors, flashing lights, space-age music, and so much more. Make sure you look up, down and all around so you don’t miss the details. The first time I rode Alien Swirling Saucers I was so eager to take a spin, I walked right by the adorable toy robots who stand guard at the attraction entrance and just today I noticed the playful Cooties figures tucked away near the restrooms. There’s one thing you surely won’t miss — the 14-foot-tall Buzz Lightyear proudly positioned at the entry for awesome photo ops.

Guests enjoying Alien Swirling Saucers at Toy Story Land

As you pass through the Alien Swirling Saucers queue you wander into a galactic play set and board alien-guided rocket ships. From there, you gently twirl around Planet Pepperonia with an ominous claw looming overhead. A bonus for preschool families is the 32-inch height requirement, and although it spins and whirls, it’s perfect for young kids.

New Entrance for Autos at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Opens Nov. 8; Continues Park’s Arrival Experience Transformation

Take note, a new entrance for vehicles at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is opening on November 8, 2018, changing how guests arrive and access parking at the theme park.

As many readers know, we’re currently reimagining Disney’s Hollywood Studios and preparing for the park’s exciting 30th anniversary in 2019. Along with the work, we are also transforming the park’s arrival experience to make it easier and more convenient to come and go.

Look at our map and you’ll see the transportation change you need to be aware of. Beginning November 8, guests driving to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will use the new entrance and exit located off of Osceola Parkway. The current main entrance off World Drive and Osceola Parkway will be repurposed for Disney cast members only and the satellite entrance on Buena Vista Drive will be dedicated to buses.

When the new entrance opens, drivers will just need to spot one of the many updated roadway signs throughout the Walt Disney World Resort to easily navigate to the Disney Hollywood Studios parking lot. Vehicles coming from southbound Victory Way will also find a connecting road leading to the park.

Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for future updates on work to improve the arrival experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including expanded parking, adjusted tram lanes, additional bus parking and the Disney Skyliner.
